About

Word running is a fun and creative way to keep fit.  It involves using a GPS device to track your movement over the surface of the Earth, while you write a word or draw a picture. I started word running in mid 2013, and I had lost 5kg by November.

It's a creative process - planning and then realising a path can be very satisfying. Not only are you getting exercise, but you usually have something hilarious or impressive to show your friends at the end. Knowing that finishing early would mean that your word will not be complete provides you with the motivation to continue to the end.

You can make your run simple, complex, funny, serious, slow or fast. You can walk it, ride it, or even swim it. It's up to you.
